Will my insurance pay for treatment. What would I have to pay each visit?

Most insurance plans cover outpatient therapy. Usually, there is a deductible and/or a co-payment for each visit.  We do not collect the co-payments at the time of your visit; they are billed to you by your insurance company.

Do I need to be referred by my doctor?

Evaluation does not require physician referral but treatments require a physician referral for insurance purposes. We will contact your physician and obtain the prescription if needed.

What if I have no insurance?

No insurance, no problem. If you do not have insurance (or have a very high deductible so would rather not go through insurance) we do offer a 50% discount to our ‘private pay’ patients. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide an estimate regarding the cost of your appointment because it will depend on your condition and which physical therapy treatment techniques are required to treat your condition.

What information do I need to bring with me to my first visit?

On your initial visit, please bring doctors orders for physical therapy, any applicable insurance referrals or referral numbers, your driver license or state ID your insurance card, and any other appropriate billing information.

What should I expect during my initial visit?

To initiate a program of therapy, the therapist examines the patient. This includes obtaining a patient history, performing relevant systems reviews, and selecting and administering specific tests and measurements to obtain data.

In addition to the evaluation, what else will be involved in my treatment?

Therapists may use one or a combination of the following interventions to achieve treatment goals:

  • Therapeutic exercises (including aerobic conditioning)
  • Functional training in self care and home management
  • Manual therapy techniques (soft tissue and joint mobilization)
  • Physical agents, mechanical and/or thermal modalities
  • Electrotherapeutic modalities
  • Educational and/or application of assistive, adaptive, and protective devices and equipment

How many times a week and for how many weeks will I have to come?

Frequency and duration of treatment will be determined by your physician or after the initial evaluation by your therapist. The typical frequency is 2-3 times per week.

What is a physical therapist?

Physical Therapists are licensed health care professionals who are experts in musculoskeletal dysfunctions.  Therapists are trained to analyze movement and identify abnormal mechanics.  From this assessment, a physical therapist will treat a dysfunction with manual skills. That will accelerate the recovery process.

What is a physical therapist assistant?

Physical therapist assistants, or PTAs, are skilled health care providers who work under the supervision of physical therapists. Duties of the PTA include assisting the physical therapist in implementing treatment programs, training patients in exercises and activities of daily living, conducting treatments, and reporting to the physical therapist on the patient's responses. In addition to direct patient care, the physical therapist assistant may also perform such functions as patient transport, and clinic or equipment preparation and maintenance.

Do you provide any other special services?

United provide EMG and Nerve Conduction Studies and Functional capacity tests

How will I handle my problem at home?

Your therapy program will include a home program to be carried out independently. Our Therapists use patient-related instruction to educate not only the patient but also families and other care givers when necessary, about the patient's current condition, treatment plan, and future transition to home, work, or community roles.

I've had Physical Therapy before, but it didn't help. What now?

When Physical Therapy is ordered, our physical therapist does a careful musculoskeletal evaluation from feet to head, to determine any physical causes that might contribute to pain. Clients tell us our physical therapy is very different from their previous experiences. They are taught adaptive and coping strategies to use in daily life. Education, modalities, massage, functional training, and easy exercises help balance muscles and correct problems. After one appointment, many clients report feeling better

Can my spouse/significant-other come to sessions?

Yes. We encourage family members to come and learn ways to assist our clients. Their support and encouragement is critical, but it is up to you which sessions they attend. Our staff will be glad to teach family members some of those special ways to help decrease your pain.

What is a free 15 minute Orthopedic Screening?

Free Orthopedic ScreeningAn Orthopedic Screen is a free service provided by the licensed Physical Therapists at URP Physical Therapy to answer any questions you may have about your physical health. During this screening the physical therapist will do a brief Physical Therapy evaluation and provide a recommendation for treatment and/or follow-up care. If necessary, it might be recommended that you see a physician or schedule a physical therapy visit for a more comprehensive physical therapy evaluation and treatment.

How long will my visit last?

Appointments are typically last 1-2 hour.

What should I wear to PT?

If your therapy consists of exercise, please wear or bring closed toe shoes and appropriate exercise clothing.

Will you communicate with my physician regarding my PT treatment?

URP Physical Therapy therapists are in frequent communication with referring physicians.
After your first physical therapy appointment a typed evaluation will be faxed to your MD. We will re-evaluate your condition approximately once per month of treatment and send progress notes to your doctor accordingly, please advise us if you have a follow-up visit with your doctor and we will ensure that a progress note awaits your doctor before your appointment so that they are up to date on your physical therapy progress and current status.
